2026

Python, C#, Angular, Android, iOS
I started back at Aware Innovations recently, though this is actually my second stint. I worked with this team from 2019 to 2022 before leaving for J&J, and when the chance came to return, I took it. I consider this my favorite job of my career so far, because of the work I get to do and who I get to do it with. Every day is a new challenge, with clients ranging from small startups to some of the largest enterprises in the world (and a few federal agencies too). We're a small but mighty team of five in Ohio, building asset tracking systems with technologies like RFID, GPS, and Bluetooth. We make sure to have fun while we do it.
As you can tell from most of my work, I love startups. It might be the fast-paced environment, the ability to iterate quickly, or the small team where communication is easy. What I know for sure is that I love working on problems that aren't clear cut. Sometimes it's stressful, but nothing beats seeing something you built work, and watching the business grow because of it.
The variety is the best part. This year alone I've used Python and C# for backend and API work, TypeScript with Angular and Node for frontend, Kotlin and Swift for our Android and iOS apps, and SQLite and Postgres for databases. And it's not all at a desk: I get out in the field installing and testing RFID readers and GPS hardware in warehouses, facilities, and on vehicles, which scratches an itch that pure software work never quite reaches. Python is still my favorite, but these days I use whatever is best for the job 🫡
I don't know exactly what's ahead, but I'd like to stay at Aware a long time. There's a bright future in this field, we have big projects on the horizon, and I wake up every day feeling lucky to have this job.
