I'm currently working with a stealth startup in music streaming. As always there's an NDA in place so I can't reveal much, but I'm excited about its future and enjoy working with the team, so I thought I'd share what I can. The team is hammering away at the remaining features needed for launch, and the streaming landscape is competitive, but we've got an ace up our sleeve that should help us pull some market share.
After my initial conversation with the founder, I decided to join and have been building core features of the streaming service ever since. I do mostly backend work with GraphQL, Node, and TypeScript, which is a nice change of pace from my usual Python and frontend work. I hadn't used GraphQL much before this, so it's been a great excuse to go deep on it. The team is spread across the world, so we work mostly asynchronously with the occasional meeting to sync up. It's fast-paced and incentives are aligned: we all want to build a great application. The coolest part is that everyone involved is passionate about music, so the features we ship are the ones we'd want as users ourselves.
I'll update this post when we come out of stealth. Regardless of what happens, it's been great working with this group, and when we launch, I hope whoever is reading this will download the app and give it a try.
